Make complex
information work.
Amol Redij is a documentation strategy and information design consultant based in Pune, India — with twenty years of enterprise experience in technical communication, information architecture and AI-assisted content workflows across enterprise software, financial technology, telecom and healthcare.
Most organisations have more documentation than they can maintain, less structure than they need, and no clear plan for what happens when AI enters the workflow. I work with teams to fix that — building documentation systems that are structured, maintainable and genuinely useful. The work draws on two decades of enterprise experience and a practical understanding of where AI creates real leverage in content operations.
More than documentation.
Good documentation is not simply written. It is structured, designed, governed and maintained. My work sits at the intersection of content, information architecture, technology and AI — helping organisations examine how information is created, organised, communicated and sustained across the full product and knowledge lifecycle.
Documentation Strategy
Most documentation problems are not writing problems. They are structural, organisational and strategic — the result of content created without a governing model, maintained by teams without shared standards, and delivered through systems that were never designed for the information they carry.
I work with organisations to build documentation strategies that address this at the root: defining content architecture, governance frameworks, authoring standards, publishing workflows and maintenance cycles that allow documentation to scale without degrading. The outcome is a documentation system — not a collection of documents.
Knowledge Systems
Documentation is not a content problem. It is a knowledge problem. Organisations accumulate documentation — guides, references, APIs, release notes — without a governing model for how that knowledge should be structured, discovered, reused or maintained. The result is content that exists but does not work.
I work with organisations to design knowledge systems that are structured, discoverable and reusable — where the right information reaches the right person at the right stage of their journey. This includes information architecture, content models, taxonomy design, metadata frameworks and the governance that keeps the system coherent as it scales.
AI-Assisted Content Workflows
AI accelerates the work. Experience determines what should be done. The organisations getting genuine value from AI in documentation are not the ones applying it most ambitiously — they are the ones who understand which tasks benefit from AI assistance and which require human judgement, and have built workflows that reflect that distinction.
My approach to AI-assisted content is grounded in practical enterprise experience — including the design and implementation of an AI-assisted DITA-to-Markdown migration workflow at Amdocs, built on Microsoft Copilot. I help teams identify where AI creates real leverage in their documentation operations, design the workflows around it, and put the governance in place to ensure quality is maintained as speed increases.
Documentation Modernisation
Legacy documentation estates contain institutional knowledge accumulated over years — in formats that no longer serve the teams who need them, maintained in tools that are no longer the right tools, and structured in ways that made sense at the time of creation but have since become liabilities.
Documentation modernisation is not a migration project. It is a redesign project that happens to involve migration. I work with organisations to assess their existing documentation landscape, identify what should be retained, restructured, consolidated or removed, and design the target state — in terms of content model, toolchain, governance and workflow — before the migration begins.
Advisory & Consulting
Sometimes the most useful intervention is an experienced outside perspective — before a project begins, when a programme is stalled, or when an organisation needs to understand what it actually has before it decides what to build. Two decades across enterprise software, financial technology, telecom and healthcare means the patterns are recognisable, even when the domain is unfamiliar.
Advisory engagements typically take the form of documentation audits and assessments, strategic reviews, transformation roadmaps or targeted interventions at inflection points — a new product line, a platform migration, a team restructure, or the adoption of new tooling that changes how the documentation function needs to work.
Where the expertise
was built.
Principal Information Developer with eighteen years of experience helping enterprise software organisations modernise technical documentation into scalable knowledge systems — across enterprise software, financial technology, telecom and healthcare. Each engagement deepened the understanding of how documentation functions as a knowledge system — or fails to — inside complex organisations.

A different dimension
of the same instinct.
The same preoccupation with making meaning clear — that runs through twenty years of documentation, information design and content strategy — runs equally through a parallel life in writing, poetry and independent cinema.
